Aflac NI attends the Belfast School of Art’s Talent Hub

Written by UX Designer, Saoirse Mullan.

Aflac NI attended the Belfast School of Art’s Talent Hub for the second year, where Aaron and I had the opportunity to connect with students, share career advice in UX, and talk about what Aflac Northern Ireland is all about.

We provided students with guidance on how to make their portfolios stand out when applying for placement and graduate roles, shared insights into our day-to-day work, and discussed the different projects we’re involved in. And, of course, the Aflac Duck swag was a hit! 🦆

We were also invited to take part in an industry panel alongside a host of other local employers. This was a full-circle moment for Aaron and I, as we are both graduates of the degree course we were speaking to! (Now called Digital Design, though it was named Interaction Design when we studied.)

During this one-hour panel, our former lecturer, asked us questions about:

  • What we enjoy most about our jobs

  • Advice for first-year, second-year, and final-year students entering the industry

  • The types of projects we work on

  • Our thoughts on the future of the UX industry over the next three years

A really rewarding experience and a great opportunity to give back to the next generation of designers!
